33rd Anniversary (Poetry)

02nd June 2009
Do you remember what today is? —
Wherever you are — however far away —
Does the date mean anything —
ring some vague bell?
Do you ever think about me? —
Wonder? — Play
what if we hadn’t parted —
gone our separate ways?
Would you be buying flowers now
or some
hastily selected box of chocolates —
the ghost of romance grimly clinging on?

You are where you are
and I am here
reminiscing briefly on the day
you’ve probably forgotten — just as well
the morning’s mood has darkened —
blue to grey.
