A Cure For Headaches (Poetry)

There’s a host of cures for headaches
some would swear by hand on heart
and a few might sound quite crazy
lacking logic for a start

Now this latest one is harmless
not one nasty pill involved
but a good dose of distraction
and Voila! the problem’s solved

Using lines like incantations
to amuse the throbbing brain
takes the mind off pain’s sensation
and lets nerves unknot again

For a rhyme that’s taken lightly
lifts the spirits — prompts a smile
so relief is set to follow
spreading balm ... and in a while

common ills like these are banished
there’s no need for newt or toad
just apply poetic witchcraft
and imbibe a cheering ode
