A Full Moon At Christmas (Poetry)
25th January 2016
Overcast, and yet the sky
could not obscure her glow —
the clouds back-lit and hanging
pendulously low
so keeping the earth warmer
than the lyric’s reputation
for mid-winter’s iron fist of snow.
I felt her power out there
in the heavens — reaching far
and around her the sword-sharp shimmer
thrown fierce by each cold star.
Thus my mind’s eye saw the beauty
thick cloud cover failed to bar ...
could not obscure her glow —
the clouds back-lit and hanging
pendulously low
so keeping the earth warmer
than the lyric’s reputation
for mid-winter’s iron fist of snow.
I felt her power out there
in the heavens — reaching far
and around her the sword-sharp shimmer
thrown fierce by each cold star.
Thus my mind’s eye saw the beauty
thick cloud cover failed to bar ...
