A Grave Decision (Poetry)
16th April 2023
I don’t want a grave
where no one stops by
weed-strewn beneath cold
indifferent sky
a name on a stone
Feed me to the flame
it’s really more kind
no tribute required
my ashes will find
some rest of their own
There’s no need to grieve
much better let go
death’s given me more
relief than you know
eased pain from each bone
and hurt from my heart
the years didn’t mend
betrayal’s a wound
that bleeds without end
no words can atone
So let the wind take
the last speck of me
scatter each atom
sent wandering free
in search of a home
where no one stops by
weed-strewn beneath cold
indifferent sky
a name on a stone
Feed me to the flame
it’s really more kind
no tribute required
my ashes will find
some rest of their own
There’s no need to grieve
much better let go
death’s given me more
relief than you know
eased pain from each bone
and hurt from my heart
the years didn’t mend
betrayal’s a wound
that bleeds without end
no words can atone
So let the wind take
the last speck of me
scatter each atom
sent wandering free
in search of a home
