A Vision (Poetry)
31st October 2009
Like a shade, she haunts the track —
A dream upon a summer’s day
She drifts serenely round and back
Along the path’s well-trodden way.
The yellow of the flowers glows —
Their sunlit heads stretched tall to view
With sighs as warm, a soft breeze blows —
A gentle shiver passing through.
Her silver gown with gauzy wings
Afloat the early evening air —
A perfect vision whispering
Of other times — she lingers there
As though she’s drawn to this quiet place
By some enchantment, undefined
That touches her so wistful face
And captivates the willing mind.
Her figure walks the hill’s pale ring —
Its dust upon her sweeping hem
Each blade of grass remembering
The glancing light her diadem.
A dream upon a summer’s day
She drifts serenely round and back
Along the path’s well-trodden way.
The yellow of the flowers glows —
Their sunlit heads stretched tall to view
With sighs as warm, a soft breeze blows —
A gentle shiver passing through.
Her silver gown with gauzy wings
Afloat the early evening air —
A perfect vision whispering
Of other times — she lingers there
As though she’s drawn to this quiet place
By some enchantment, undefined
That touches her so wistful face
And captivates the willing mind.
Her figure walks the hill’s pale ring —
Its dust upon her sweeping hem
Each blade of grass remembering
The glancing light her diadem.
