A Visit From The Tree Carers (Poetry)
26th January 2026
They’ve trashed the copse
they’ve wrecked the trees
brought Mother Nature
to her knees
the air hangs hushed
there’s not a breath
and nothing moves
for here is Death
What once grew tall
in light and shade
has fallen foul
of profit’s blade
and so they’ve slashed
without a care
for all that lived
and perished there
They’ve crushed the land
beneath their tread
and all that thrived
seems lost or dead
small creatures who
made this their home
now driven out
their refuge gone
This wounded earth
its secrets keep
the sap pools cold
where roots go deep
the damage soothed
by sun and rain
till life returns
shows green again
they’ve wrecked the trees
brought Mother Nature
to her knees
the air hangs hushed
there’s not a breath
and nothing moves
for here is Death
What once grew tall
in light and shade
has fallen foul
of profit’s blade
and so they’ve slashed
without a care
for all that lived
and perished there
They’ve crushed the land
beneath their tread
and all that thrived
seems lost or dead
small creatures who
made this their home
now driven out
their refuge gone
This wounded earth
its secrets keep
the sap pools cold
where roots go deep
the damage soothed
by sun and rain
till life returns
shows green again
