Across The Valley (Poetry)
26th January 2014
Mute in autumn’s kindly light
the roofs reflect on life
mellowed by the season’s turn
colours burn less bright
but dream their tones into a wash —
a tide of reverie
blending greens with golden browns
an ochred harmony
tucking round the quilted town
peaceful with its trees
and nosing chimneys stand their ground
in close proximity
to the church tower spiring through
to touch an opal sky
as cheek by jowl the houses doze
and time meanders by.
the roofs reflect on life
mellowed by the season’s turn
colours burn less bright
but dream their tones into a wash —
a tide of reverie
blending greens with golden browns
an ochred harmony
tucking round the quilted town
peaceful with its trees
and nosing chimneys stand their ground
in close proximity
to the church tower spiring through
to touch an opal sky
as cheek by jowl the houses doze
and time meanders by.
