All Words Are Equal (Poetry)
05th September 2021
I dug a word out from the ground
and gave it a new life
it coughed and struggled — flapped about
then finally took flight
It swooped, it soared, it wasn’t long
before I heard it sing
glad to find a voice once more
it touched on everything
Since resurrected from the grave
it’s copied tongue to tongue
and proved the death of language can
by poets be undone
All words are equal — weight for weight
each has a job to do
communication needs them all —
the old, the rare, the new
and gave it a new life
it coughed and struggled — flapped about
then finally took flight
It swooped, it soared, it wasn’t long
before I heard it sing
glad to find a voice once more
it touched on everything
Since resurrected from the grave
it’s copied tongue to tongue
and proved the death of language can
by poets be undone
All words are equal — weight for weight
each has a job to do
communication needs them all —
the old, the rare, the new
