Ambition/Sits Vac (Poetry)

‘Busy as a bee’
the world is encouraged to admire
the proverbial hive of industry
and yet it isn’t what the insect chose —
but simply all he knows

Daydreaming’s dismissed as wasted time
considered almost bad as petty crime —
too much imagination
too little application
for any kind of proper job

A vocation that requires the gift of vision
a true poet finds no problem to employ —
for it’s his natural skill
he can tap into it at will
just as easily as falling off a log
