Amid Changeover (Poetry)

07th September 2025
This sense of waiting
inhabits the trees
stood to attention
grown stiff with unease
they hold their green breath

The sunlight seems strained
blue sky stretched to break
the air cannot move
it nurses an ache
now Summer has left

This hanging around
for something to give —
release from its spell
and let the day live —
yet forecasts its death

The tension thin-spun
involves every leaf
uncurled by the sun
but destined for grief
at Autumn’s behest

All remains as still
as an image caught
in mid changeover
season’s lines soft-fought
spill watercolour ...
