Amost Not Quite Here (Poetry)

16th April 2023
Body’s atoms drift
separated out
as though they’ve lost weight
sometime in the night
float insubstantial

Bubbled light and air
ripples limb to limb
life’s old sailboat run
aground on flesh thinned
by elbow outcrops

Talk’s a breeze winding
through ropes and sinews
canvas lips flap words
converse with seabirds
check navigation

Ocean’s salt-master
drags at my bloodstream
tides tug at anchors
my heart’s hollow shell
fish-whispers my name

Ozone inhabits
draws a fresh breath-line
I’m feathered to find
an albatross flies
far out in my mind
