Another Leaf (Poetry)

A leaf drops
small soul of a tree
released
on death’s whim

a quiver on air
thin ghost of itself
freed from a life
spent hanging

whirled on its way
hustled along
the breeze bully-strong
tugs urgent

the spirit’s progress
goaded on
much like life
still no will
                of its own
