Anyone For Ouija? (Poetry)
16th April 2023
‘Is anyone there?’ —
I’m anxious to know
‘Give one knock for yes
dead silence means no’
Faint breath clouds the air ...
A strange sensation
runs sharp down my spine
one corner strikes cold
perception’s clear sign
needs no translation
A spirit walks near
it brushes my arm
a hum in my ear
unsettles frail calm
I shudder with fear
Then comes the loud knock
I asked for it’s true
I gasp like I’m stung
all reason worn through
limbs rigid in shock
All instinct cries ‘Run!’
I hear myself moan
vow I will henceforth
leave Ouija alone
this ‘game’ is no fun
I’m anxious to know
‘Give one knock for yes
dead silence means no’
Faint breath clouds the air ...
A strange sensation
runs sharp down my spine
one corner strikes cold
perception’s clear sign
needs no translation
A spirit walks near
it brushes my arm
a hum in my ear
unsettles frail calm
I shudder with fear
Then comes the loud knock
I asked for it’s true
I gasp like I’m stung
all reason worn through
limbs rigid in shock
All instinct cries ‘Run!’
I hear myself moan
vow I will henceforth
leave Ouija alone
this ‘game’ is no fun
