Bookworm (Poetry)
24th March 2013
Nose pressed between the pages of a book,
This troubled world proved easy to dismiss
While fiction cast a hero-baited hook.
Tucked in imagination’s inglenook,
I shared a bygone age more sane than this,
Nose pressed between the pages of a book.
Reality I readily forsook,
Enchanted by a legend’s tender kiss,
While fiction cast a hero-baited hook.
And captured by the tale, I undertook
To blindly cross dark fantasy’s abyss,
Nose pressed between the pages of a book.
Convinced that love would triumph, dared to look
For dragons in the firelight — heard them hiss,
While fiction cast a hero-baited hook.
Romantic lore’s immutable — love took
A leap of faith and found a state of bliss:
Nose pressed between the pages of a book,
While fiction cast a hero-baited hook.
This troubled world proved easy to dismiss
While fiction cast a hero-baited hook.
Tucked in imagination’s inglenook,
I shared a bygone age more sane than this,
Nose pressed between the pages of a book.
Reality I readily forsook,
Enchanted by a legend’s tender kiss,
While fiction cast a hero-baited hook.
And captured by the tale, I undertook
To blindly cross dark fantasy’s abyss,
Nose pressed between the pages of a book.
Convinced that love would triumph, dared to look
For dragons in the firelight — heard them hiss,
While fiction cast a hero-baited hook.
Romantic lore’s immutable — love took
A leap of faith and found a state of bliss:
Nose pressed between the pages of a book,
While fiction cast a hero-baited hook.
