Burying The Shovel (Poetry)

08th February 2026
A voice gave hurt a shovel
to hollow me inside
instructing go! — dig deeply
exhume what’s left to hide

Cut down to what lies human
reveal the blood and bone
cold layers of confusion
the body can’t disown

Old loves unearthed their casket
long-rotted through by tears
a cast of careless strangers
corrupted over years

Anonymous and stinking
such odours of regret
skin cannot breathe for wishing
the senses might forget

Forgiveness scraped a handful
of sorrow’s gritty earth
threw it like confetti
guessing what the future’s worth

Then burying the shovel
in a grave without a mark
allowing hurt to settle
find some comfort in the dark
