Cat In Winter (Poetry)
10th March 2026
Patrolling the strangeness
of a transformed garden,
cat sniffs the frost-bound earth,
her fur fluffed out against the cold.
Eyes narrowed, she watches
hungry, hopeful sparrows
lined up along the fence
anticipating a shower of crumbs.
She turns and picks her way
across the crisp lawn, tail waving,
to the kitchen door, her mew answered
by the warm smells of cooking.
of a transformed garden,
cat sniffs the frost-bound earth,
her fur fluffed out against the cold.
Eyes narrowed, she watches
hungry, hopeful sparrows
lined up along the fence
anticipating a shower of crumbs.
She turns and picks her way
across the crisp lawn, tail waving,
to the kitchen door, her mew answered
by the warm smells of cooking.
