Collecting Stray Thoughts (Poetry)
08th February 2026
We can’t remember every day
we all lose track of time
I don’t recall each word you say
and you’ve forgotten mine
Our memories are not so good
now that we’re far from young
we struggle harder than we should
to hear the bells once rung
The filing system that we keep
updating in our head
sometimes muddles — lost in sleep
fresh info stored unread
Yesterday seems long ago
the past has jumped the queue
our focus swinging to and fro
between the old and new
More weeks and months slip swiftly by
as wheels of Time roll on
each moment drifts — a cloud on high
then like a dream its gone
we all lose track of time
I don’t recall each word you say
and you’ve forgotten mine
Our memories are not so good
now that we’re far from young
we struggle harder than we should
to hear the bells once rung
The filing system that we keep
updating in our head
sometimes muddles — lost in sleep
fresh info stored unread
Yesterday seems long ago
the past has jumped the queue
our focus swinging to and fro
between the old and new
More weeks and months slip swiftly by
as wheels of Time roll on
each moment drifts — a cloud on high
then like a dream its gone
