Creation II (The Sequel) (poetry)
10th November 2013
Light finds the pure white crystal in a bowl of earth —
the tiny gem that winks a secret life within
has hints of something magic at its very heart
the prize that every truth-seeker desires to win.
Mix fire and air, raw wood and stone — combine as one
flesh, blood and newborn spirit wrap around thin bone
the atom splits itself and forms another world
the gods of science dream perhaps they’re not alone.
The microscope reveals the structure of a cell
the telescope sees further than the hollow moon
change come ever-quicker in the eyeball’s blink
so all creation’s myths will be rewritten soon.
Imagination’s shoulder tests the bolted door
peels back the bandages — lets ancient scars glow red
old memories flow backwards through a wormhole trick of space
fresh inspiration floods to fill the visionary’s head.
Impossible — the concept’s on too vast a scale
to even contemplate — the whole idea’s insane
yet atmospheres dictate a now or never vibe
and it’s near time to start the process off again.
