Cries In The Night (Poetry)
07th April 2019
Some nights I think I hear the angels crying
deep in the dark I hear the old gods groan
the planets — the whole universe is sighing
I’m waiting for the hand to split the stone
I’m hoping money’s temple will soon tumble
and Truth arise from ruin like a flame
a leader strong yet spiritual and humble
so that history will not repeat again
When Man stands naked on his swaying tower
denying his despotic rule should fall
let Fate dictate a worldwide shift of power
there’s few of them worth saving after all
When the angels cry for those who love their brothers
there’s too many that are keen to go to war
they do not fight themselves but order others
to kill and maim — break down the sacred door
They’ve raped the earth and squandered all its treasure
stolen land by stealth and changed the law
so good and bad apply in equal measure
and no one follows reason any more
I am sleepless — listening to angels keening
for the victims — every casualty they call
Man was lost when he forgot life’s inner meaning
I’m just waiting for the hammer-blow to fall
deep in the dark I hear the old gods groan
the planets — the whole universe is sighing
