Decoding The Dream (Poetry)

A strange dream last night
has soured my day
thick with aftertaste
unidentified
bitter with omens

I struggle with brief
flashes like insight
too slippery-sly
to pin on a name
or guess what it means

Coded in whispers
worrying morning
a dog with a bone
prickled-hair warning
a niggling voice

It sucks my resolve
disrupts my thinking
energies sinking
unsettled — on edge
I pace room to room

Just stuff and nonsense
I should ignore it
yet seek some answers
search from the window
for clues hid in cloud
