Dream-share (Poetry)
29th January 2012
In dreams I seek her out
tramp the mists of Winter’s slanting distance —
a dimension where a trick of light illumines
a longed-for shape —
a shell where echoes linger.
Like ghosts we meet
and sense our atoms parting
as we sink through each other —
incorporate — unable to hold on —
embracing emptiness — dismayed —
the doubled chill of absence piercing deep.
Then dragged apart by tides
obeying different seas
we sigh and drift our separated ways
knowing once we shared the stars
remembering touch — affection’s casual kiss —
too fleeting as the fragile thought dissolves —
connection lost in waking.
