Dumped (Poetry)

11th May 2010
It was someone’s life — bagged up — left in the rain
unsalvaged — no one cared enough to claim
or wondered at those sad and wet remains
as weeks went by and still nobody came.

Wind tugged at plastic — split the bulging sides
so what lay hidden slowly was untied —
performing an autopsy — spreading wide
the contents — all that callousness implied.

Belongings thrown together — piling high
yet no one seemed inclined to question why
they were disowned — ignored by passers-by —
those ruins of a life left out to die.
