Duplicity Alert (Poetry)

We’re walking blindfold into serfdom
though the multitudes don’t know it
deep unrest is live and kicking
but the media won’t show it
democracy’s in meltdown
the unconvinced are railing
while all we hear is bullshit
plus some weeping and much wailing

For nothing’s like it used to be
now voters count for nothing
the population’s knocked about
and lost most of its stuffing
for no one says ‘Enough’s enough
we need a truthful leader
and not some doughboy in a suit
this bumbling deceiver!’

High time Joe Public took a stand
before more ruination
there’s little left to save of our
so bruised and battered nation
before we lose our freedom’s rights
and end up with no choices
it’s time to rock the boat and drown
those sly despotic voices!
