Everything Hurts (Poetry)

10th March 2019
Everything hurts — yes, everything hurts
and pretty pills don’t deal with the pain
the pink ones to blame for making it worse —
I shan’t be taking those killers again

The lady doctor, she’s losing her focus
all her patients drugged up to the eyes
full of potions and such hocus pocus
they’re now robots in human disguise

Oh, the list’s far too long
of the things grown all wrong
and the ache’s simply too much to bear
for whatever we’re told
the lies have worn old
all the caring’s gone out of health care

There’s no point in a letter complaining
there’s nobody left gives a damn
de-compassioned by strict Nazi training
dehumanized down to a man

So they process each case
with a smirk on their face
while the suicide rate’s way too high
now the regime has brought
in a lack of support
so the feeble are left out to die

The old doctor is losing his marbles
and his patients succumb to neglect
no one hears all the nonsense he garbles
his good reputation is wrecked

Almost everything’s worse
but the too-busy nurse
doesn’t listen — says ‘Take off your clothes...’
most will do as they’re told
though the temperature’s cold
as we’re led to our death by the nose
