Forbidden Places (Poetry)
18th June 2023
There are those places
we know we shouldn’t
even dare ourselves
to go — yet we do
and end up facing
situations and
dangers there was no
need to, but by then
we’re in a jam and
have to find a way
to get out of it
however we can
all the time wishing
we had had more sense
of the common kind
Except there is a
strangely enticing
urge to throw caution
to the wind and not
keep off the grass or
obey the big red
sign that stipulates
‘NO ENTRY’ when a
rogue thought places bets
against getting caught
we know we shouldn’t
even dare ourselves
to go — yet we do
and end up facing
situations and
dangers there was no
need to, but by then
we’re in a jam and
have to find a way
to get out of it
however we can
all the time wishing
we had had more sense
of the common kind
Except there is a
strangely enticing
urge to throw caution
to the wind and not
keep off the grass or
obey the big red
sign that stipulates
‘NO ENTRY’ when a
rogue thought places bets
against getting caught
