Framework (Poetry)

21st April 2013
The framework forms a web to catch each word —
an ark to save rare voices in my head
that won’t survive the flood — that noisy herd
which threatens — while thoughts dangle like a thread
or fade to echoes — flutter in the night
drawn to these pages — hovering in sight

of rescue safe aboard a paper boat
sent sailing on an ocean of ideas —
its tides awash with songs some poet wrote
its currents dark with visions — hopes and fears
and nothing else except the moon’s pale eye
as guide to weave old borrowed legends by.
