Freezing The Moment (Poetry)
02nd July 2025
Life is a hard place
to find any escape —
it has way too many
barriers and bars
those obstacles that build
a sly prison to make
even thinking about
planning freedom’s mad break
seem like wishing on stars
When doubt fashions a wall
each small brick invisible
yet it towers above
keeping out — keeping in
love’s old shackles a ghost
the ball and chain slow-rusting
they remain a dead weight
that hampers the hope-weary heart
Rare dream of the road
its promise winds thin
and impossibly far
but still beckons somehow
with its pale dust untrod
like it’s waited so long
I imagine the breeze
as it rakes my wild hair
freeze the moment and feel
myself almost there
to find any escape —
it has way too many
barriers and bars
those obstacles that build
a sly prison to make
even thinking about
planning freedom’s mad break
seem like wishing on stars
When doubt fashions a wall
each small brick invisible
yet it towers above
keeping out — keeping in
love’s old shackles a ghost
the ball and chain slow-rusting
they remain a dead weight
that hampers the hope-weary heart
Rare dream of the road
its promise winds thin
and impossibly far
but still beckons somehow
with its pale dust untrod
like it’s waited so long
I imagine the breeze
as it rakes my wild hair
freeze the moment and feel
myself almost there
