Getting It All Done (Poetry)

The list gets longer
there’s numerous things
one must remember
strange how December
comes round so quickly

All of the presents
time spent choosing gifts
weeks busy shopping
race hardly stopping
the credit card wilts

The tree needs tinsel
baubles and lighting
cards require writing
posting while parcels
pile prettily wrapped

Such a palaver
puddings for cooking
panto-seat-booking
keeping the kids from
secretly looking

in the garden shed
Christmas Eve mayhem
absolute panic
yet in good spirit
all gets done somehow
