Girl Asleep (Poetry)

26th January 2014
Twin sweep of lacquered lashes,
soft, smudged pink bow of lips,
the womanchild boy-dreaming,
smug, composed, half-lit,

lets the shadows shape her,
shawling casual webs,
her hair a fetching storm cloud
delicately spread.

She curls — her foetal posing
an echo long outgrown,
smiling, teasing, hinting
at pleasures all her own.
