Give Me Five Minutes (Poetry)

Just give me a mo
to take it all in
it’s come as a shock
my mind is racing
and logic can’t lock

You dump this on me
right out of the blue
I bet you would squeal
if it had been you
so guess how I feel?

Don’t rush me to give
an answer right now
it’s really not fair
I don’t want a row
do you know or care

what you’ve put me through?
I doubt that you do
you’re standing right there
and don’t have a clue
the hurt you’ve laid bare

So give me some time
five minutes or so
to get a good grip
or better — just go
before I let rip!
