Go Tell It To The Birds (Poetry)
07th April 2024
Go tell your troubles to the robin
and the blackbird and the wren
let them sing away your sobbing
till the world seems bright again
They will lift your heart with singing
notes that banish woes away
Nature’s solace blithely ringing
and dispelling dark dismay
For the birds admit no worries
while there’s singing to be done
each to his own spot then hurries
like there’s prizes to be won
for the solo that brings healing
spreads a balm that soothes and mends
with its cadences of feeling
as it rises, swirls and blends
floating off like a pale bubble
on the evening’s spellbound air
taking with it every trouble
so the listener’s freed from care
and the blackbird and the wren
let them sing away your sobbing
till the world seems bright again
They will lift your heart with singing
notes that banish woes away
Nature’s solace blithely ringing
and dispelling dark dismay
For the birds admit no worries
while there’s singing to be done
each to his own spot then hurries
like there’s prizes to be won
for the solo that brings healing
spreads a balm that soothes and mends
with its cadences of feeling
as it rises, swirls and blends
floating off like a pale bubble
on the evening’s spellbound air
taking with it every trouble
so the listener’s freed from care
