Guru (Poetry)

17th March 2019
His name’s become a legend
only few would question why
most polish each illumined thought
so colours will not die

His word’s considered sacred
his book’s in such regard
true pilgrims have a copy
though the reading can be hard

His message deep with meaning
the sense locked in his head
no use to shoot the messenger
he’s living with the dead

Now none can separate them —
pick out the man from myth
he’s camouflaged in poems —
a neat ironic twist

And talent’s like true beauty
beholders claim is rare
so love his work or hate it
he’s a god — he doesn’t care
