Hark! (Poetry)

13th December 2008
Hark to the murmur — low — and to the East —
listen hard — a snatch of sound like song
carried on night breezes sweeps along —
teases — tunes the ear of man and beast
to pick out words — decode and comprehend
far voices — and the message that they send.

The air is full — the distant waves wash in
a tide of love two thousand years will keep
repeating — led by starlight through the deep
sky canyons — and the swell of urgent wings
concentrates the heart to dwell on things
spiritual — a cosmic gathering.

The language of the heavens speaks tonight —
crosses boundaries — leaps with a flowing grace
the cold dark voids of silent soulless space
and links together — man to man — in spite
of race or creed — the energy runs raw
as Truth — reborn — proclaims itself once more.
