Heart Songs (Poetry)

27th January 2013
The heart is always singing songs —
humming low its melodies
half-remembered tunes to soothe the ache
lingering — those rhythmic sighs
that echo — follow down the years
trail the senses like an unquiet ghost.

In the dusk’s reflective lull
beats become a soft refrain
and memory listens — glides along
with that old music — strings and drum
the gentle phrasing flows and spills
redundant passions — thrills the blood.

Deep they run — pour through and through
like streams converging find the sea
those notes unwind and trickle sweet
stir undercurrents of the mind
recalling romance — hear love tell
its stories — feel the magic still.
