Hope's Flame (Poetry)
01st February 2011
When suddenly the world grows dark —
our wide horizons shrink and dim —
then Hope remains the one small spark
that glimmers, comforting within.
One candle on Life’s windowsill
that offers soft its constant light
to ward off fear’s approaching chill —
keeps burning through the blackest night.
Hope won’t give in to gloomy thought —
resists the shadows looming where
cruel doubts creep close — Faith holds the fort
defies the clutches of despair.
Hope’s flame might waver — flicker low
at times when we feel lost — alone
but through the darkness that faint glow
will surely find us — guide us home.
our wide horizons shrink and dim —
then Hope remains the one small spark
that glimmers, comforting within.
One candle on Life’s windowsill
that offers soft its constant light
to ward off fear’s approaching chill —
keeps burning through the blackest night.
Hope won’t give in to gloomy thought —
resists the shadows looming where
cruel doubts creep close — Faith holds the fort
defies the clutches of despair.
Hope’s flame might waver — flicker low
at times when we feel lost — alone
but through the darkness that faint glow
will surely find us — guide us home.
