I Love Little Pussy But... (Poetry)
22nd February 2015
I love little pussy
her fur is like silk —
so black and so shiny
four paws white as milk.
Her eyes green as emeralds
her tail like a snake
her purr a deep rumble —
an earth-moving quake.
I love little pussy
she’s sweet as can be
and curls up so closely
as though she loves me.
She brings me warm presents —
a bird or a mouse
or sometimes she hides them
like treats — round the house.
I’d miss little pussy
if she came to harm
she’s a bundle of mischief
yet bursting with charm.
Her teeth feel like needles
her claws are sharp too.
(And sometimes she scratches
between me and you.)
And it’s then that a thought
flashes brief through my head —
I so wish I had asked for
a puppy instead.
her fur is like silk —
so black and so shiny
four paws white as milk.
Her eyes green as emeralds
her tail like a snake
her purr a deep rumble —
an earth-moving quake.
I love little pussy
she’s sweet as can be
and curls up so closely
as though she loves me.
She brings me warm presents —
a bird or a mouse
or sometimes she hides them
like treats — round the house.
I’d miss little pussy
if she came to harm
she’s a bundle of mischief
yet bursting with charm.
Her teeth feel like needles
her claws are sharp too.
(And sometimes she scratches
between me and you.)
And it’s then that a thought
flashes brief through my head —
I so wish I had asked for
a puppy instead.
