Imagination's Home (Poetry)

Where does imagination live?
It dwells in the woods grown wild and deep
and it hears the soft voice of Nature call
from the hidden paths and the dens of sleep
in the twilight day or in night’s dark fall
imagination visits all
those places a true spirit sees
beyond the mountains and the trees
to lands of fantasy and myth
and those with a creative gift
paint their visions, draw the dream
and share the magic they have seen

Whatever opens those strange doors
and sets imagination free
to fly off to another world
remains,for some, a mystery ...

Imaginations are not all the same
but vary wildly, as might be supposed
and like few other things in life
the more often it is used the more it grows
a virtual pet which needs some loving care
or it might fade away like wishes gone unsaid
But, where does it usually abide? — It can live anywhere
though found most often tucked inside
                                        a wise young-thinking head
