In Conclusion (Poetry)

05th May 2024
In my youth I asked those questions
everybody wants to know
I was greedy for some answers
while the world was turning slow

But the answers brought more questions
and the logic failed to fit
when I searched to find the meaning
I could see no sense in it

I refused to give up easy
went and knocked at every door
thought the secret must be somewhere
surely someone knew the score

Sly the years that slid on past me
all that wasted time now lost
and no nearer understanding
what misguided effort cost

All that pointless speculation
thinking purpose should be clear
or there’d be some explanation
as to why the hell we’re here

In conclusion — there’s no reason
nothing’s fixed — we come, we go
old and vexed by such conundrums
I no longer want to know
