Indefinitely (Poetry)

Love in all its many guises
high expectations and surprises
passion, need and simple lusting
always hungry, oddly trusting
dizzy moments, wistful hours
disappointment and cold showers

Love is fickle, often fleeting
said too quickly after meeting
Love is past all understanding
suffocating and demanding
Love exceeds our wildest wishes
makes us gasp and leap like fishes

For Love lives on a different planet
while wiser heads might try to ban it
it bears a smile that spreads so sweetly
it charms and overwhelms completely
enslaving everyone infected
few abstained and less objected

They say that Love endures forever
while payment’s on the never-never
Love is a cure that some believe in
or a drug that proves deceiving
left with pain once fever’s gone
