It's Been A While (Poetry)

24th March 2013
It’s been a while, Leonard
I just heard your voice again
and my reaction kind of floored me
revived the sunken flame.

I recognise nostalgia —
why women so adored you
I don’t imagine much has changed
they probably still do

for who else can conjure angst
to let us bleed?
Who else unfurls old flowers —
bares their withered seed?

It hurts to listen to you
but it’s good
to feel these things anew —
the sting of surging blood —

the woken ache that crashes
like a bee against the glass
trapped inside the moment —
the movie jerking past...

Old delirium, dear Leonard
each epiphany’s the same —
a lost priestess finds her temple
while she’s following your name.
