I've Nothing To Say (Poetry)

22nd April 2024
I’ve nothing to say
my pen hovers — mute
the Muse turns away
I worry and root
for some word to play

No idea will come
the fountain has dried
the cat has my tongue
it can’t be denied
my voice struggles dumb

A log jam of thought
stuck fast in my head
where worry has caught
unsure and unsaid
it seethes overwrought

I’m stuck with this block —
a dam to my flow
dig deep to unlock
what I used to know
but doubts run amok

And try as I may
as minutes tick by
I’ve sighed the whole day
no word of a lie
I’ve nothing to say
