Just Say (Poetry)

25th March 2012
Just say they put a plaque up It was here
she wrote that book...

predictable, and wrong
to leap to that assumption — they should know
the house itself had no real part to play.
She lived within herself
too deep for most
her dreamscape ocean-vast and worlds away.

Just say they gave a literary prize
to honour her
and venerate her name
while critics write dull papers — nick some vein
of thought that arrows down a cul-de-sac...
those wild deductions
all grave-robbers make
yet miss one tunnel mapping her escape.
