Keeping Dizzy (Poetry)

15th April 2019
There is no whistle now
from the secret building site
primly cordoned off from passersby
by laws of health and safety

Today’s brickies cannot spy
the shapely leg or short-short skirt

if some bronzed builder pursed

appreciation loud and shrill
or called to them “Hey, darlin’ are you

such banter as a compliment? ...

And remember it now
no one even dares to mention how
