Keeping the Tradition (Poetry)

18th May 2015
Few modern poets write in rhyme
it’s too much trouble taking time
to craft words into lines that fit
they don’t quite see the need for it.

While formalists still stand their ground
for rhyme and rhythm they have found
give shape and demonstrates fine skills
like Wordsworth and his daffodils —

a piece made easy to recite
because the poet chose to write
in flowing lyrics timed to fit
and that’s why we remember it!
