They fuck you up — your family —
they really, really do
That DNA is like some curse
designed to follow you

For each relationship you have
is doomed right from the start
despite each promise and each kiss
the lies will break your heart

So what’s the answer? What’s the trick
for dodging all that pain?
With happiness so hard to find
why try and try again?

Maybe it’s best to live alone
with just a dog or cat
read the odd romance — dream a bit
and be content with that
