Leaving Poems (Poetry)
25th March 2012
I’ve left a poem for you in a book —
in a dozen books or more —
I don’t know who you are
you’re out there somewhere reading
always reading — looking for
the poem that will change your life.
It’s waiting for you —
inbetween some pages
you will find one day
by happenstance —
some lines that will connect
and send your senses reeling —
tumbling my way.
All words are code —
their shapes a subtle map
we need to travel by...
and you’re out there somewhere
searching for a clue —
imagining there might be a poem
written just for you.
