Life As A Temporary Hermit (Poetry)

Living life more simply now
the big bad world at bay
not knowing if or when or how
the threat might die away

Uncomplicated — nice and plain’s
the order of the day
a certain sort of freedom reigns
and peace comes into play

The mind adopts a slower pace
that gives more time for thought
new dreams come from a different place
where fish remain uncaught

Each home a modern hermit’s cave
by public health decree
with no impunity to wave
I suffer steadfastly

But there are compensations too
the world outside has flaws
so even when the panic’s through
I might just stop indoors
