Little Pink Bucket (Poetry)

There might come a time
when some very keen
paleontol-
ogist digs through what
once was her grandad’s

garden and finds there
a curious cache —
shells and quaint pebbles
patterned with fossils
from days at the beach

And what conclusion
on this collection
might some researcher
with experience
more than likely reach?

This combination
suggests quite clearly
this area was
once submerged beneath
a strange ancient sea

She’d innocently
made a shell garden
from those things with no
thought it could mislead —
but that’s history
