Lost On The Ether (Poetry)
15th November 2023
Some nights I look out
late and see the last
yellow window square
flick off as neighbours
make their bid for sleep
I fancy brick thins
no more than a veil
protects privacy
voices filter through
extracts pulled from dreams
Mumbled pillow talk
a quick rattled prayer
a low sob, a snore
and a wife’s complaint
whispered in his ear
Darkness amplifies
channels deep desires
on local short wave
intimate as breath
though names escape me
Imagination
has them settle down
slumber grips the street
which prompts my question —
do stray dream-waves meet?
late and see the last
yellow window square
flick off as neighbours
make their bid for sleep
I fancy brick thins
no more than a veil
protects privacy
voices filter through
extracts pulled from dreams
Mumbled pillow talk
a quick rattled prayer
a low sob, a snore
and a wife’s complaint
whispered in his ear
Darkness amplifies
channels deep desires
on local short wave
intimate as breath
though names escape me
Imagination
has them settle down
slumber grips the street
which prompts my question —
do stray dream-waves meet?
