Love Came Down (Poetry)

24th March 2019
Love came down at Christmas
and found the house was bare
no curtains at the window
no carpet on the stair

No sign of habitation
the walls were damp with mould
a mouse curled in the corner
the floorboards creaked with cold

Love lit a bright red candle
the room filled with its glow
old spirits gathered at the door
and came in from the snow

The merry ghost of Christmas past
spread waves of festive cheer
rekindling glad memories
of those who once lived here

So any passerby who glanced
into the window bright
would see Love’s celebration
on this joyful holy night

And sense the caring angel
and hear the voices ring
and know Love’s timeless magic
warms the heart of everything
